Expert Sports Injury Treatment (and Prevention!)
Request AppointmentA sports injury to your foot or ankle can be an incredibly frustrating and demoralizing experience.
Whether you are active professionally, motivated to set new personal records, or just play for fun, getting out and moving is a great benefit to your physical and mental health. Anything that gets in the way of that is getting in the way of your overall well-being.
At Premier Podiatry Group, our approach to foot and ankle sports injuries is always two-fold:
- Provide expert diagnosis and treatment recommendations to get you back to action as quickly and as safely as possible.
- Address any potential issues that might increase your risk of suffering the same or similar injuries in the future.
The sooner you receive the right treatment for a sports injury, the sooner you are likely to get back on track. So don’t hesitate; contact us today for an appointment!
Types of Sports Injuries
We treat all sports-related injuries of the feet and ankles, including (but not limited to):
- Ankle Sprains
- Achilles Tendinitis
- Heel Pain
- Ball of Foot Pain (metatarsalgia)
- Sever’s Disease (heel pain in active kids)
- Fractures
- Shin Splints
- Muscle Strains
- Turf Toe
The most effective treatment does not always just mean addressing pain and other symptoms directly, although that certainly should happen. In many cases, we must also identify the underlying factors that contributed to the condition and address those as well to reduce the chances of symptoms returning.
Treating (and Preventing Future) Sports Injuries
Our team has the advanced training and state-of-the-art tools necessary to help sports injury patients recover quickly and effectively.
First, we take the time to thoroughly evaluate your condition and the circumstances surrounding it, including talking with you about how the injury may have happened and how its symptoms are affecting you.
Once we have all the information we need, we can then recommend a course of treatment that best suits your particular needs – both in relieving symptoms and increasing future prevention, if needed. Parts of a treatment plan might include:
- Changes to workout/exercise routines
- Changes to footwear
- The use of custom orthotics to redistribute forces across the feet
- Stretching and exercise routines to condition and strengthen more vulnerable areas and their connecting elements
- Advanced treatments such as MLS laser therapy to accelerate the recovery of soft tissues
Surgery is rarely required, and is only recommended if conservative forms of treatment haven’t been or would not be effective. If surgery is a consideration, we will fully discuss all of your options with you and answer any questions you may have.
